10 million pieces of waste tires are supplied every year to support the British circular economy
Recently, the Norwegian waste tire recycling company Wastefront announced that it had reached an agreement with Gateway Resources to ensure the supply of waste tires to its factory in Sunderland Port, England.
With the support of energy giants, Wastefront obtained planning permission in January 2022 to build a waste tire recycling plant worth 126 million dollars in Sunderland, the plant will be put into commercial operation in 2024. Once operating at full capacity, the plant will be able to handle 20% of the total UK waste tires, with an annual processing capacity of 80000 tons.
